Charlotte Jansen: Good to see you the other night at the Catlin Prize. And those pointy jazzy shoes of yours... have a good time? Philippa Snow: Those jazzy shoes were an absolute nightmare; half a size too small, and the tip came off the heel when I - very sensibly - went straight home after the prize (by which I mean: "went for whiskey sours in a dark bar"). CJ: Talking of dark rooms; I meant to ask you what you were doing crouching down on the floor there when I got in? PS: I was trying... [more]

Collector's Catalogue: Vol. 3 Issue 3
by

The Museum of Everything Charlotte Jansen interviews James Brett about his unusual collection The Museum of Everything’s founder James Brett is perhaps an incongruous addition to the Collector’s Catalogue – since he frowns at the idea of being labeled a collector. Collector, hoarder, or fanatic – what is so compelling about the Museum’s activity is their novel approach to promoting and presenting artists. Brett, somewhat of a talismanic leader in this – almo... [more]

by
Gretta Sarfaty at Sartorial Contemporary Art March 19th - April 5th
Posted 4/11/13

Gretta Sarfaty gained international recognition in the late 70’ as a body-art and performance artist. Beginning with a traditional medium of painting, she early started to experiment with new media and performance. Even if her art has remained authentically ingenious over the years, the ways of her expression have changed, reflecting the evolution of digital technology. She has never been dogmatic: even when expressing a strongly feminist approach, she moves smoothly around multitude of questi... [more]

by
Anna FC Smith at The Coningsby Gallery January 21st - January 26th

I visited this exhibition last month and was blown away by the work and the show. The way the Artist had taken a popular TV show and with the extensive supporting critique and research had transformed the TV Burp show concept into a modern representation of the carnival scene. The familiar characters from the show took form in a variety of traditional methods - from thimbles to knitted pieces and toby jugs - these were all linked together with the beautiful watercolour paintings and the drawings...
